Green Office Utrecht
Green Office Utrecht is the central hub where fresh minds and hands come together to support Utrecht University’s sustainable development.
The university had different sustainabilty initiatives, but those were not connected and visible. There were also no central contact points for students and staff who wanted to engage on sustainability issues. The Green Office was created in 2013 as a platform to inform, involve and empower students and staff. The Green Office developed from a small project team with one staff and three student interns, to an established platform that is part of a larger sustainability programme.
As the graph below shows, the team consits of 3 staff coordinators (working 16, 24 and 30 hours per week for the GO) and 7 student employees (paid 6 hours per week, volunteering another 6). The Green Office also has a structural volunteering programme. The Green Office works with various sustainability professionals in the institution.
