Green Office Hildesheim
The Green Office supports various actors in their activities towards sustainability and initiates sustainability projects.
One lecturer acted as contact person for sustainability issues and a working group on education for sustainable development existed. The interest to establish a Green Office to take existing sustainability efforts to the next level had existed since 2012, but did not succeed due to funding constraints. A student initiative revived the idea to establish a Green Office in 2014 and engaged in an extensive lobby effort together with staff. The Green Office was finally created as central sustainability office of the university in 2015.
As the graph below shows, the team consits of 1 staff coordinator (working 40 hours per week) and 8 student employees (paid 6 hours per week). The Green Office is part of faculty 4 for mathematics, natural sciences, economics and computer technology.
