Green Office Groningen
The Green Office strengthens and integrates sustainability with the University of Groningen by supporting, connecting and inspiring both staff and students.
The university had a Sustainability Working Group and an Energy Project Group. In 2014, members of these groups developed a proposal for the Executive Board, suggesting to integrate both groups into one Sustainability Task Force. They also recommended the Executive Board to follow other Dutch universities and establish a Green Office as a studentled sustainability initiative to work next to the Sustainability Task Force. The Green Office was then established in 2014.
As the graph below shows, the team consits of 5 student employees (paid 12 hours per week) and 1 staff coordinator (32 hours per week). The Green Office works with volunteers ad-hoc.
